Here is the weekly review of the top performing Buffaloes alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.
#1. Australian champion Isaac Ayoubi, a 5'10'' point guard who graduated from WTAM in 2025 and currently plays professionally in Australia, showcased his skills by leading the Rockhampton Rockets to a decisive 104-85 victory over the seventh-ranked Meteors in the Australian NBL One, the second division league. In a stellar performance, he contributed 13 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists, and 4 steals in just 26 minutes on the court.
Despite the Rockets' challenging start to the season, with a current standing of 1-3 and placed 11th in the North group, Ayoubi's leadership and standout performance against the Meteors marked a turning point as they secured their first win after three consecutive losses. His exceptional display not only boosted his team's morale but also played a vital role in securing victory as the finalist of the game.
As the season progresses, Ayoubi continues to impress with solid statistics, averaging 14.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. With his consistent contributions and impactful presence on the court, Ayoubi is proving to be a key player for the Rockhampton Rockets as they aim to climb higher in the league standings and compete for the championship title.
#2. Australian champion Austin Shelley, a 6'3'' guard and 24-year-old Buffalo alum from the class of 2022, who helped lead his team to victory in the LSC Tournament that year, currently plays professionally in Australia. Despite his stellar performance, the eighth-placed Frankston Blues (6-5) were unable to secure a win in their recent game. Shelley, the standout player, scored 21 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and dished out 4 assists in 33 minutes of play. Despite his impressive individual performance, his team fell short and was defeated 88-84 on the road by the Falcons (#13) in the South group.
Shelley continues to shine throughout the season, boasting high statistics with an average of 17.5 points per game, 2.1 rebounds per game, 3.5 assists per game, and 1.1 steals per game. Despite his personal success, Shelley's team has faced challenges on the court, as was evident in their recent game against the Falcons.
#3. Experienced Greek player Nikolaos Stylianou, standing at 6'6'' and 37 years old, who graduated from WTAM in 2009 and currently plays professionally in Cyprus, recently faced a tough challenge in the Cypriot ECOMMBX Basket League. Despite his efforts, Stylianou, a key member of Keravnos (21-2), could not lead his team to a victory over AEK Larnaca (22-1), who narrowly defeated Keravnos 76-75 in Larnaca. This match was not one of Stylianou's standout performances, as he only managed to score 3 points in 11 minutes of play.
Stylianou, who is in his seventh season with Keravnos, contributed 3 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist in the game against AEK Larnaca. However, his individual efforts were not enough to secure the win for his team. Throughout the season, Stylianou has been averaging 7.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game.
It is interesting to note that Stylianou holds both American and Greek citizenship, allowing him to be considered a domestic player when playing in Greece. Despite the recent loss, Stylianou remains a champion in the sport and continues to strive for success with his team.
