We bring you last week's top former Indians players who are currently playing in pro basketball.
#1. Peyton Gerald, a 6'9'' forward at 23 years old, graduated from FSC in 2025 after playing for Catawba between 2021 and 2024, where he earned the All-SAC All-Tournament MVP award. Currently, he is playing professionally in Austria and recently led his team, UBSC Raiffeisen Graz, to a resounding victory over the third-ranked Raiffeisen Flyers Wels with a score of 100-79 in the Austrian Win2Day Basketball Superliga. In this game, he showcased his talent by scoring 23 points, grabbing 5 rebounds, and contributing 2 assists in 32 minutes of play, earning him the MVP title. This remarkable performance is particularly noteworthy as it's only his first season in professional basketball.
UBSC Raiffeisen Graz, with a record of 17-13, holds the fifth position in the Places 1-6 group. This victory was crucial for the team as it ended a streak of three consecutive losses. Peyton Gerald's outstanding contributions on the court have been consistent throughout the season, with impressive averages of 17.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.8 steals per game in the 33 games he has played so far.
In the game against Wels, Peyton Gerald proved to be the champion, leading his team to victory and securing the win as the standout player of the match. His strong performance and impact on the court have been instrumental in his team's success, establishing him as a key player in the Austrian basketball scene.
#2. In an exciting basketball matchup between Absheron and Neftci in the Azerbaijani Azerbaijan Basketball League, Tre'vion Lamar, a 27-year-old Indians alumnus from 2022 now playing professionally in Azerbaijan, played a crucial role in Absheron's 90-81 victory over the third-ranked Neftci. Standing tall at 6'5'' and playing as a guard, Lamar showcased his skills by scoring 9 points, grabbing 5 rebounds, and dishing out 4 assists in just 26 minutes of play. Notably, he displayed a perfect free-throw shooting record, going 5-for-5 from the line.
This game was a highly anticipated showdown between two top 3 ranked teams in group Grupa A, with Absheron Baku holding the second spot with a 17-3 record. Lamar's performance was pivotal in securing his team's fourth consecutive victory, highlighting his impact on the court. Despite this being his first season with the team, Lamar demonstrated his prowess and versatility as a player, making significant contributions to Absheron's success.
Lamar's impressive performance against Neftci added to his overall season averages of 9.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game in 11 appearances. With his consistent contributions and standout play, Lamar is proving to be a key player for Absheron, showcasing his potential to excel and make a mark as a champion in the league.
#3. Jeremy McLaughlin, a 6'8'' power forward who graduated from Catawba in 2019 and helped them win the SAC Tournament that year, currently plays professionally in New Zealand. In his debut game for the Hawkes Bay Hawks this season, McLaughlin faced a tough challenge against the Rams and despite his notable performance of scoring 8 points, blocking 5 shots, grabbing 3 rebounds, and recording 1 assist in 35 minutes, his team was unable to secure a victory. The Hawks lost 94-103 on the road to the Rams, who are ranked #3 in the league, dropping to a 0-4 record so far in the Regular Season. However, it is still early in the season and there is potential for improvement. McLaughlin's individual effort on the court demonstrated his skills and capabilities, but the team's collective performance fell short in this match against a strong opponent.
#4. Daquan Lilly, a 6'7'' forward and 28-year-old Indians alumnus from 2020 who currently plays professionally in the TBL, unfortunately could not lead the DMV Soldiers (with a record of 6-7) to victory in their recent match. Despite his stellar performance, the DMV Soldiers (#2) narrowly lost 128-126 in a closely contested game against the Fayetteville Liberty.
Lilly displayed an impressive double-double during the game, scoring 19 points and securing 13 rebounds in a remarkable 46 minutes of play. His standout performance against Fayetteville Liberty, where he not only scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds but also provided 1 assist, showcased his skill and determination on the court. Although his team ultimately fell short in the game, Lilly's exceptional efforts did not go unnoticed, earning him the prestigious Triple-Double Badge from eurobasket.com, a testament to his prowess as a true champion in basketball.
Individually, Lilly has been having a remarkable year, boasting high statistics with an average of 17.6 points per game, 12.6 rebounds per game, and 1.8 assists per game across five games. His consistent performance and impressive stats highlight his value as a key player and finalist in any team he represents.
#5. Larry McLeod, a 28-year-old forward standing at 6'5'' who graduated from Catawba in 2021 and currently plays professionally in the ECBL, showcased his talent by leading the Charlotte Blue Jackets to a dominant victory over the Carolina Panthers, who have yet to secure a win this season. In a high-scoring game, the Blue Jackets triumphed with a convincing 192-143 scoreline on Saturday night.
McLeod's individual performance was stellar as he contributed 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists, playing a pivotal role in his team's success. This win marked the third consecutive victory for the Charlotte Blue Jackets, improving their record to 8-2 for the season. With only four games remaining in the East Coast Basketball League Regular Season, each upcoming match becomes increasingly crucial for the team's playoff prospects.
McLeod has been a key player for the Blue Jackets this season, averaging 8.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game over seven appearances. His consistent contributions on both ends of the court have been instrumental in the team's journey towards potentially becoming the champion of the league this year.
