EuroBasket Pro Skyhawks Weekly Update

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Skyhawks alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.

   #1. Experienced DeAndre Lansdowne (6'2''-G-1989, played in 2007-11, plays pro in Germany) led his German team Rostock Seawolves to a victory against the closely-ranked Antwerp Giants (2-3) 75-63 in the FIBA Europe Cup in Tuesday night's game. He scored 15 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 31 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Rostock Seawolves (4-1) is placed first in the FIBA Europe Cup. Lansdowne's team will play only one more game in the FIBA Europe Cup Regular Season. And that game will be critical. This year Lansdowne averages 9.6ppg, 3.8rpg, 5.2apg and 1.6spg in five games he played so far.

   #2. Malik Whitaker (6'6''-G-2000, played in 2023-24, plays in Belgium) could not help Union Mons-Hainaut (4-3) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Whitaker's very good performance Union Mons-Hainaut was badly defeated93-76 on the road by the second-ranked Kangoeroes. He was the second best scorer with 16 points. Whitaker also added 6 rebounds. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Whitaker has relatively good stats this year 11.6ppg, 3.9rpg and 1.3spg.

   #3. Alex Herrera (6'9''-C-1992, played in 2014-15, currently in Germany) managed to help Science City Jena in a victory against the ninth-ranked Chemnitz (4-3) 85-72 in the German BBL on Saturday night. Herrera recorded 5 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 14 minutes. Science City Jenais placed in the BBL. It's Herrera's fifth season with the team. This year he averages 1.2ppg and 1.2rpg in five games.

   #4. Otas Iyekekpolor (6'8''-F-1996, played in 2018-19, plays pro in Bosnia) contributed to Promo's victory against the closely-ranked Borac BL (4-1) 81-70 in the Bosnia and Herzegovina Division I in Friday night's game. Iyekekpolor scored 9 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. KK Promo Donji Vakuf (3-2) is placed fifth in the Division I. But the season just started, so everything may happen. This year Iyekekpolor averages 3.4ppg and 4.2rpg. Worth to mention he played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

   #5. Marquel Beasley (6'5''-PF-1993, played in 2017-19, plays in United Kingdom) was not able to help London Cavaliers in their game against Thunder (5-0) in the British BCB (second division). He scored 9 points in 36 minutes. But the third-placed London Cavaliers (3-3) was badly defeated93-74 in Worthing by the leading Thunder in the Group 1. But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen. Beasley has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 15.5ppg, 4.7rpg, 2.8apg and 1.3spg in six games.
