UNC Pembroke captures 2025 Atlantic Casualty Insurance Conference Carolinas Championship crown for second straight title

UNC Pembroke captured their second straight Atlantic Casualty Insurance Conference Carolinas Men’s Basketball Championship crown as they defeated Emmanuel University on Sunday afternoon. The Braves shot nearly 60 percent from the floor in the 107-91 victory.
UNC Pembroke came out on fire, shooting 58.1 percent from the floor and 76.9 percent from three in the opening 20 minutes. Emmanuel led 19-18 midway through the half before the Braves regained the lead with a triple and a 7-2 spurt. UNC Pembroke then went on a 13-2 run, extending their advantage to 41-27. Elijah Cobb connected on the Braves’ 10th trifecta of the first half at the buzzer as UNC Pembroke led 49-34 at the break.
The UNC Pembroke lead grew to 83-58 before Tavarus Webb (6'4''-G/F) connected on three straight triples for a 9-0 Emmanuel run. The Lions later pulled within 100-86 but couldn’t get any closer as the Braves won the game 107-91. UNC Pembroke shot 58.6 percent from the floor and 63.6 percent from three-point range in the game. The 107 points is the most in a Conference Carolinas championship game since 2003-04 when Pfeiffer defeated Mount Olive 106-95.
Dallas Gardner (6'3''-G) led UNC Pembroke with 34 points. He was followed by Bradlee Haskell’s 20 points. Webb led Emmanuel with 44 points and eight rebounds. Kendall Latney (6'2''-G) followed with 26 points.
