Here is the weekly review of the top performing Cowboys alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.
#1. Chris Newsome (6'2''-G-90, graduated '11, plays pro in Philippines) led Meralco Bolts to a victory against the ninth-ranked Phoenix (1-3) 101-95 in the Filipino PBA in Friday night's game.
He scored 18 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 37 minutes.
Meralco Bolts (3-3) are placed fifth in the PBA.
It's Newsome's fourth season with the team.
Newsome has relatively good stats this year 11.2ppg, 5.8rpg, 3.2apg and 1.2spg in six games he played so far.
#2. Jonathon Mines (6'4''-G-91, graduated '16, plays in Australia) was the major contributor in a Townsville Heat's victory against the 15th-ranked Gladstone Port City Power (1-8) 92-82 in the Australian State League (second division) last Saturday.
He scored 24 points, had 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Mines' third season in pro basketball. Townsville Heat (6-2) is placed fourth in QBL group.
It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row.
Mines has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages 20.7ppg, 6.7rpg, 2.1apg and 1.1spg.
#3. Ranko Puseljic (6'2''-G, graduated '18, currently in Australia), who plays in the Australian State League (second division) could not help Toowoomba Mountaineers (1-7) to beat Rollers (4-3).
Puseljic scored 9 points, had 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 24 minutes.
But the 13th-placed Toowoomba Mountaineers (1-7) lost 77-88 on the road to the much higher-ranked (#6) Rollers in the QBL group.
It was Toowoomba Mountaineers' seventh consecutive loss in a row.
Puseljic has relatively good stats this year 11.6ppg, 4.0rpg and 3.1apg in eight games.
#4. Marlon Johnson (6'10''-F, graduated '17, plays pro in Canada) led Saskatchewan Rattlers to a victory over the Guelph Nighthawks (2-5) 98-86 in the CEBL in Saturday night's game.
He was MVP of the game. Johnson scored 21 points and grabbed 7 rebounds; not bad, considering it's only his second season in pro basketball. The Saskatchewan Rattlers have a solid 5-3 record this season.
Johnson has relatively good stats this year 10.2ppg and 6.0rpg.
