EuroBasket Pro Sunbirds Weekly Update

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Sunbirds alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.

   #1. Malcolm Griffin (6'4''-PG-91, graduated '14, plays pro in Greece) led AEK to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Promitheas (11-6) crushing them 83-62 in the Greek A1 in Saturday night's game. He scored 13 points and added 3 assists in 22 minutes. AEK Athens (12-5) is placed third in the A1. This year Griffin averages 8.4ppg, 2.3rpg, 2.7apg and 1.2spg in 17 games he played so far.

   #2. Donte Nicholas (6'5''-F-87, graduated '12, plays in United Kingdom) led Plymouth University Raiders to an easy victory against one of league's weakest teams Scorchers (4-18) 108-89 in the British BBL last Sunday. Nicholas recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 15 rebounds. He also added 9 assists. Plymouth University Raiders (11-12) is placed fifth in the BBL. It was his team's first victory after three consecutive loses. It's Nicholas' first season with the team. Nicholas has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 17.6ppg, 8.8rpg, 7.7apg and 2.5spg.

   #3. Experienced Joshua Urbiztondo (6'1''-PG-83, graduated '06, currently in Philippines), who plays in Philippines could not help SM Beermen (17-4) to beat Macau (10-9) in the ASEAN League. Urbiztondo scored 8 points in 16 minutes. The league leader SM Beermen lost 103-116 on the road to the lower-ranked (#7) Macau. This year Urbiztondo averages 5.2ppg, 3.3rpg and 2.3apg in 20 games. He is a naturalized Filipino.

   #4. Joshua Mason (6'4''-PG-90, graduated '14, plays pro in Georgia) was not able to help Rustavi (0-0) in their game against Delta (7-4) in the Georgian Superleague. His contribution was not very remarkable in Sunday's game. Mason scored only 2 points. It was his first game for Rustavi this season. Rustavi was defeated 73-62 at home by the lower-ranked Delta (#4).
