Collectively, the fourth-seeded Clark Atlanta University Panthers played like a team on a mission as they captured their first Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball championship in 46 years with a 78-71 win over second-seeded Stillman College (22-7) Saturday at Forbes Arena on the campus of Morehouse College. CAU's David Brown, the tournament's Most Valuable Player, topped all scorers with 20 points on 7-of-16 from the field. Four other Panthers scored in double figures including Najee Lane who chipped in 14 points, Royce Hamilton 11 and Antonio Burch 10.
