Ferris State captures 2015 GLIAC Tournament Championship - Mar 9, 2015
The Ferris State Bulldogs went in to Saulte Ste. Marie and defeated the Lake Superior State Lakers on Sunday 87-82 for their second GLIAC Men's Basketball Tournament Championship. The three-seeded Bulldogs earn the automatic bid to next weekend's NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament. FSU senior Drew Lehman (6'0''-PG) recorded 38 points on 11-of-22 shooting from the field, including 13-of-14 from the free throw line. Lake Superior State defeated Saginaw Valley State 70-56 Saturday at Bud Cooper Gymnasium in the first semifinal contest. As usual, LSSU used a balanced scoring attack which featured three in double figures and seven with atleast six points. No. 3 seed Ferris State took down No. 7 seed Walsh by an 81-65 final score in the other semifinal game. FSU leading scorer Drew Lehman (6'0''-PG) went 9-for-14 from the field for 21 points with six assists. Josh Fleming (6'5''-G) and Jared Stolicker (6'10''-C) amassed 19 and 18 points, respectively as Ferris shot 50.8 percent on the day. The Cavaliers were paced by Jesse Hardin (6'0''-PG) Jr.'s 24 points, seven board, four assists and three steals.
