MidAmerica Christian win NAIA title game on buzzer-beater in overtime - Mar 23, 2016

Malcolm Mann (6'3''-G) got the winning shot off just ahead of the buzzer to give MidAmerica Christian a 100-99 victory in overtime against Georgetown in the NAIA men's championship game in Kansas City, Mo. Mann's length-of-the-floor drive to the hoop counted after an agonizing wait until the officials ruled the ball was out of his hands before time expired. Former Scott County star Trent Gilbert (5'11''-G-94), a sophomore, had hit a three-pointer to give the Tigers a 99-98 lead on the previous possession. Noah Cottrill(6'3''-G) led Georgetown, which previously won NAIA titles in 1998 and 2013, with 32 points. He was 4-for-8 from three-point range and 12-for-12 at the free-throw line. The Tigers also got double-doubles from both Tony Kimbro Jr. (6'6''-G/F) (25 points and 12 rebounds) and Deondre McWhorter (6'8''-F) (21 and 11). Gilbert's go-ahead three-pointer was his only points of the game. Mann finished with 23 points for MidAmerican Christian, a school in Oklahoma City, Okla. Devonse Reed (6'4''-F) added 25 points and four rebounds.

Indiana Wesleyan claim Division II title - Mar 15, 2016

Indiana Wesleyan beat Saint Francis 69-66 in the NAIA Division II national men's basketball championship Tuesday in Point Lookout, Missouri. The No. 2 seeded Wildcats (33-5) won their second national title in the past three years. The Cougars (33-5) were ranked No. 1 in nation and the tournament. It is their second straight national runner-up after also finishing second in 2011. The Cougars won the national title in 2010. It was the fourth meeting this season between the teams, with Saint Francis winning the first three times, including in the Crossroads League tournament championship game and the game that decided the regular-season league title. Kegan Comer (6'3''-G-94) led Saint Francis with 22 points, while Bryce Lienhoop (6'6''-F) had 15 and Austin Fox (6'3''-F-91) 14. Indiana Wesleyan, which hit 9 of 16 (56 percent) on 3-pointers, got 20 points from Bob Peters (6'2''-G) and 18 from Lane Mahurin (6'7''-F). Saint Francis trailed 32-26 at halftime.
