Look at great performance of Joel Coffey (8 points), Khalyl Simmons (30 points), and Orri Hilmarsson (11 points).
#1. New Zealand's Joel Coffey, a towering 7'0'' center who graduated from Webber in 2020 and now plays professionally in Australia, played a key role in his team's dominant 125-98 victory over the ninth-ranked Rockets in the Australian NBL One (second division) on Saturday night. Despite only logging 13 minutes on the court, Coffey made his presence felt with 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks. The Norwood Flames, currently positioned fifth in the Central group with a 3-2 record, are still early in the season, leaving plenty of room for unexpected developments. Coffey's standout performance against the North Adelaide R. showcased his skill and determination, helping his team secure another win and solidify his status as a finalist this season. With season averages of 3.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game, Coffey's contributions on both ends of the court have been instrumental in his team's success. As the season progresses, his impact as a champion player is sure to be a key factor in his team's pursuit of victory.
#2. Khalyl Simmons, a 24-year-old guard standing at 6'2" and a former Warriors alumnus from 2025, showcased his skills in a recent game for the Dallas Stampede. Despite his noteworthy effort, scoring 30 points and securing 5 rebounds in 37 minutes of play, Simmons could not prevent the team from suffering a close 113-112 defeat against the Muskogee Skykings on the road last Saturday. In the game against the Muskogee Skykings, Simmons demonstrated his scoring prowess by putting up 30 points, contributing 5 rebounds, and distributing 2 assists. However, despite his stellar performance, the Dallas Stampede fell short, ultimately losing the game by a narrow margin. Throughout the season, Simmons has maintained impressive individual statistics, averaging 16.7 points per game, along with 2.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. His consistent performance highlights his value as a key player for the Dallas Stampede. Simmons' basketball journey includes his participation as a player in the Eurobasket Summer League, a prestigious platform known for nurturing talented players seeking opportunities to compete in international basketball leagues.
#3. Icelandic player Orri Hilmarsson, a 6'3'' guard who is 26 years old and graduated from Webber in 2024, is currently playing professionally in Iceland. In a recent game last Thursday, Hilmarsson was unable to lead his team KV (10-12) to victory. Despite his solid performance, KV suffered a 96-87 defeat in Kopavogur against the higher-ranked team Breidablik (#5). Hilmarsson showcased his skills by scoring 11 points, grabbing 5 rebounds, and dishing out 1 assist in 23 minutes of play. This season marks Hilmarsson's debut with the team, and he has been making notable contributions on the court. His overall statistics for the season reflect his strong performance, averaging 12.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game.
#4. Swedish player Simon Fransis, a 6'7'' forward who is 31 years old and an alum of the Warriors from 2019, currently plays professionally in Sweden. Despite his best efforts, Fransis couldn't lead Huddinge (14-12) to victory over Wetterbygden (15-11) in the Swedish Superettan, the country's second division. In the closely contested match, Fransis contributed 8 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 32 minutes of play. Huddinge narrowly lost 66-65 to the higher-ranked Wetterbygden (#5) in Huskvarna. With only two games remaining in the Regular Season, every game becomes crucial for Fransis and his team. This marks Fransis' first season with Huddinge, and he has been putting up solid numbers, averaging 11.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. Despite a commendable performance against Wetterbygden, where he showcased his scoring and rebounding abilities, Fransis and his team fell short in their quest for victory.
#5. Gregory St.Remy, standing tall at 6'5'' and a former graduate of Webber in 2010, currently playing professionally in the TBL, played a crucial role in leading the Kissimmee Lambs to a victory against the Tampa Bay Titans with a score of 127-117 in The Basketball League on Saturday night. Despite scoring just 4 points in a 10-minute appearance, St.Remy's contribution was significant in securing the win for his team. The Kissimmee Lambs, with a somewhat modest 7-0 record this season, have been performing exceptionally well so far in the Regular Season, winning all seven games.
