#1. Taeshon Cherry, a 26-year-old 6'8'' forward, graduated from Marian, IN in 2023 and received the prestigious All-Crossroads League First Team award that same year. Currently playing professionally in Australia, Cherry recently led the Willetton Tigers to a resounding 110-90 victory over the 11th-ranked Senators in the Australian NBL One, the second division league. In this game, where he was named the MVP, Cherry showcased his talent by scoring an impressive 35 points and blocking 2 shots in just 19 minutes of play, only in his third season in professional basketball. The Willetton Tigers, with an 8-1 record, hold the top spot in the West group standings, thanks in part to Cherry's stellar performance. This win marked the team's eighth consecutive victory, highlighting their strong form this season. Despite it being his first year with the team, Cherry has been making a significant impact, as seen in his remarkable performance against Warwick S., where he scored 35 points and secured a crucial victory with 1 rebound. These exceptional displays on the court truly demonstrate his skills and determination as a champion. Individually, Cherry has been having an outstanding season, averaging 24.7 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.2 blocks, and 1.6 steals per game in the nine games he has played so far. His consistent high-level performance is setting him apart as a finalist in the league.
#2. Joe Rush, a 27-year-old point guard standing at 6'0'' and an alummi of the Knights from 2024, showcased his skills in a recent game for the Lebanon Leprechauns in The Basketball League. In a thrilling match against the Hamilton County Huskers, Rush led his team to a hard-fought 122-116 victory. Despite playing only 17 minutes, he managed to contribute significantly with 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 crucial assists. The Lebanon Leprechauns, with a somewhat modest 16-4 record this season, are gearing up for the final stretch of the regular season with only four games remaining. Every game now holds immense importance as they aim to solidify their position in the league standings. Rush's impressive performance against the HC Huskers highlighted his prowess on the court and why he is considered a champion player. His consistent contribution throughout the season is evident in his solid statistics, averaging 12.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.4 steals per game over 19 appearances. As the season progresses towards the playoffs, Rush's leadership and skills will be crucial for the Lebanon Leprechauns' aspirations to compete against the league's top teams.
