Round 5 (Regular Season): Phoenix beat Swish in the most crucial game of the week

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in . Leader Phoenix faced 4th placed Swish. Host Phoenix (5-0) smashed guests from Oakland (2-3) 124-83. Phoenix dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Swish's 56. Phoenix looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was power forward Erica McCall (190-1995, college: Stanford) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Delia Moore (170, college: CS East Bay) chipped in 14 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Guard Jada Lewis (175, college: SDSU) produced 15 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. Undefeated Phoenix have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-0 record. Swish lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Reign and Royals. Phoenix are looking forward to face Riptide (#7) in San Francisco in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Swish will play against Titans and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
Bottom-ranked Valkyrie (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 79-74 loss to sixth ranked Reign (2-3) in . Jamaican-American guard Crystal Primm (180-1997, college: FAU) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. Mo Bennett contributed with 13 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Guard Destiny Jackson (168, college: Monmouth) answered with 19 points and 8 rebounds for Titans. Reign moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Royals and Swish. Titans lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Reign will play against league's second-placed Wolves in Alameda in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Titans will play at home against Swish (#4) and hope to get finally their first victory.

Kylie Horstmeyer stepped up and scored 33 points (!!!) and 5 assists for the winners. Zakiya Mahoney responded with 23 points and 5 rebounds. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Blaze. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Wolves. Riptide at the other side keeps the seventh position with four games lost. Blaze will meet at home Royals (#5) in the next round. Riptide will play against the league's leader Phoenix and hope to win that game.

In the last game of round 5 Royals were defeated by Wolves in Alameda 109-91.

Swingman IimarI Thomas (178-2000, college: UCLA) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and guard Rebecca Harris (173-1986, college: Illinois) chipped in 28 points and 8 assists. Guard Jasmine Guinn (168-1995) responded with 24 points and 6 rebounds and Miyu Mizukawa scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Wolves maintains second place with 4-1 record behind leader Phoenix, which they share with Blaze. Loser Royals dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Reign and Swish. Wolves will meet at home Reign (#6) in the next round. Royals will play against Blaze and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
