The #2 seed Warner University Royals defeated #1 seed Keiser University Seahawks 80-55 to win the 2016 Sun Conference Championship. Warner took a quick 6-2 lead when the Seahawks used a 5-0 run to take their first lead of the game at 7-6. The Royals quickly came back to tie the game at 9-9 and built on their lead taking their largest of the half of 24-15 with 7:55 remaining. Keiser used a 6-0 run climbing to within 24-21 but went into halftime trailing 28-23. In the second half, Keiser got as close as 30-26 before Warner used a 15-4 stretch extending their lead to 45-30 with 13:28 to play. The Royals continued to build on their advantage while outscoring Keiser 35-25 going on to win by a final of 80-55. Eddie Delegal (6'7''-F) was named the tournament MVP, recording a game high 38 points on 15-18 shooting in 38 minutes. He also had six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Antonio Ansley (5'11''-G) recorded double figures in both tournament games including 10 points tonight. Warren Hall (6'2''-G) joined the list with four assists, seven rebounds, and just three points after having a game high 19 one night ago. Stanley Whittaker (6'0''-PG) led Keiser with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block. The Royals earn the Sun Conference automatic bid to the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship. The Seahawks will also be heading to the national tournament with one of the at large bids.
