LSUA takes RRAC men's hoops tourney on buzzer-beater - Mar 8, 2015
LSU Alexandria continued its storybook run through its inaugural season with a 20-point rally and a last-second bucket to defeat Our Lady of the Lake, 76-75, in overtime in the final of the 2015 RRAC Men's Basketball Tournament on the campus of LeTourneau University. Trailing 75-73 with three seconds left in overtime, the Generals' Darryl Milburn (6'4''-G/F) pulled down a loose ball and sank a three-pointer to give LSUA its only lead in overtime. OLLU had one more shot, but De''Quentin Greer''s attempt missed. Both teams were already guaranteed to qualify for the NAIA Division I Men's Basketball National Championship in Kansas City, Mo. LSUA received an automatic berth as the regular season conference champion, and OLLU claims a spot by reaching the conference tournament final. OLLU jumped to a quick 75-68 lead in overtime with two buckets from Greer then a three-pointer from Jeremy Hines (6'2''-G) at the 1:47 mark. LSUA responded with a layup from Milburn and a three-pointer from Jordin Williams (6'3''-G) to close the gap to 75-73. After OLLU missed a shot attempt with 27 seconds left, the Generals played for the last shot. Deangelo Coleman (5'10''-PG) missed a three-point attempt with seven seconds left, and Milburn was able to haul in the rebound to set up the game-winner. The first half was similar to overtime with the Saints building a 48-31 halftime edge and extending the lead in the second half. LSUA slowly chipped away and caught OLLU when Austin Adams (6'7''-F-94) scored four straight points on a tip-in and a pair of free throws with 24 seconds remaining in regulation to give LSUA the edge at 66-65. The Saints' Daniel Skinner (6'4''-F) made one of two free throw attempt to tie the game at 66 and send it to overtime.
