Campbellsville wins MSC Tournament Championship - Mar 10, 2015
Second-seeded Campbellsville (Ky.) survived a late comeback by fifth-seeded Cumberlands (Ky.) en route to a 72-69 win at the 2015 MSC Men's Basketball Championship presented by Pioneer College at the Frankfort Convention Center. The Tigers (28-5) earn the conference's automatic bid into the NAIA-National Championships, which begins March 18 at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Missouri. Leading 30-29 at the 3:32 mark of the first half, Campbellsville went on a 20-10 run that stretched into the second half at the 13:10 mark to take a 50-39 lead. Cumberlands (22-10) fought back whittling the lead down to one (69-68) with 39 seconds remaining, but would get no closer. The Patriots held the Tigers without a field goal the final 7:26, but Campbellsville's 6-of-8 free throw shooting during that span proved to be enough to secure the win. Campbellsville shot 43.6 percent (24-of-55) from the floor, but hit half of their 18 threes during the hard-fought contest. Cumberlands hit 10 treys in the setback while knocking down 42.4 percentage (25-of-59) from the floor. D'Von Campbell (6'1''-G-92) -- who was saddled with foul trouble in the first half -- finished with a team-high 16 points, while Damontre Harris (6'10''-F) posted a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Tony Bradley (6'3''-G) led the Patriots with 17 points and Xavier Owens (6'4''-F-92) added 13 points.
