Oklahoma Wesleyan Wins KCAC Tournament Title Game - Mar 3, 2022
The Oklahoma Wesleyan men's basketball team defeated Bethel 81-68 on Monday night to win the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament title. The Eagles led most of the way and used a late run to take a double-digit victory.
OKWU relied on scoring in the paint and mid-range jumpers to topple one of the defenses in the country. The Eagles led 42-31 at halftime and built the lead to 17 points early in the second half. The Threshers staved a run and pulled within two possessions with less than five minutes to go. The OKWU defense stood tall and led to offense on the other end at the most critical moments.
The Eagles put five different players in double-figures in the win. Jaden Lietzke (6'7''-F/C) led the team with 21 points, Brandon Bird (6'4''-G/F) scored 18 points. Wesleyan is now 31-2 on the season and has notched the regular season and tournament titles in the KCAC. OKWU head coach Donnie Bostwick spoke after the victory.
This is the third time in the last five years that Oklahoma Wesleyan has won the KCAC tournament title.
