Bulldogs win GPAC Tournament - Mar 4, 2020

Fourth seed (RV) Concordia picked up a 68-66 win over No. 11 Dakota Wesleyan in finals of the 2020 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men's Postseason Basketball Tournament, presented by Cypress Risk Management, on Tuesday, February 29, at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota.
The Bulldogs jumped out to an early advantage, leading by as many 15 in the first half behind some hot shooting from beyond the arc. Dakota Wesleyan was able to fight back to within a bucket midway through the second half, before making things tight in the final minute.
Concordia was led by Tanner Shuck (6'4''-G/F) who had 17. He was one of four Bulldogs in double figures along with Brevin Sloup (5'9''-PG) (14) Carter Kent (6'2''-G) (13) and Justin Wiersema (6'3''-G) (12). This is the first time since 2004-05 that Concordia has won the GPAC tournament title.
The Tigers were paced by Ty Hoglund (6'3''-G-97) who had a game-high 27 points. Also in double digits were Mason Larson (6'7''-F) (16) and Koln Oppold (6'4''-F) (11).
Concordia, as the GPAC Postseason Tournament Champion garners an automatic berth to the NAIA National Basketball Tournament (the runner-up gains the berth if the regular season champion (top seed Morningside) would have won the postseason).
The final NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship is set for March 11-17, 2020, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the Pentagon. NAIA basketball will go to one division in 2020-21 and Kansas City will be the host of the tournament.
