Montana Tech earns Frontier's automatic bid to NAIA Men's Basketball National Tournament
Montana Tech Orediggers captured the 2025 Frontier Conference Tournament men's basketball title in a 69-50 commanding victory over Providence Argos Tuesday evening at Pacific Steel & Recycling Arena. The Orediggers, entering as the tournament's top seed, extended their season record to 24-6 and claimed their fourth consecutive tournament title.
Montana Tech displayed a strong first half, leading 31-27 at the break. The Orediggers turned up the heat in the second half, building a remarkably large 26-point lead. Despite a valiant effort from the second-seeded Providence, who rallied late in the game, they couldn't close the gap, ending their season at 16-14 overall record.
Montana Tech's standout performance came from Hayden Diekhans (6'6''-F), who dominated the court with a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Michael Ure (6'7''-F) added significant impetus with 15 points and five rebounds.

Hayden Diekhans, forward from the Montana Technological University, picked up the Player of the Year at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. He received multiple other awards, was named the Defensive Player of the Year, and was voted to the First Team and Defensive Team. Diekhans was previously voted the Regular Season Runner-Up back in 2022, Tournament Winner three times in the past, and selected to the Defensive Team, Regular Season Champion back in 2023 and 2024, Defensive Player of the Year and named to Honorable Mention last year selection. He averaged 13 points and over 7 rebounds per game in the league. Diekhans has totalled 6 games of 20 or more points and recorded double-doubles in 3 games on the year. His 25 points against the University of Montana Western were the most he scored in the 24 25 season.
Isaiah Crane, point guard from the Carroll College, was selected as the Freshman of the Year of National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. He was also chosen to the First Team. Crane was previously honored as the Regular Season Runner-Up and Tournament Finalist last year. He registered over 18 points and 4 rebounds per game that season in the league. Keeley Bake, point guard from the Montana Technological University, was named to the First Team of National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. He previously picked up the Tournament Semifinals back in 2021, Regular Season Runner-Up back in 2022, Tournament Winner three times in the past and Regular Season Champion back in 2023 and 2024.
