Round 1: Blaze lose to Phoenix

The Regular Season in WPBA just started. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Blaze on the court of Phoenix on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Phoenix 90-68. Phoenix had a 40-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Riley Friauf (185, college: Dominican, CA) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Guard Brittney Cedeno (173, college: CBU) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds. Canadian-American guard Ameela Li (168-1997, college: Pacific) produced 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Phoenix is looking forward to face Valkyrie in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Blaze will play against Reign in Hayward and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another exciting game was between Riptide and Valkyrie where Riptide beat Valkyrie on the road 72-61. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Jasmine King (168, college: Southern) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Kayla Moutry contributed with 15 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Guard Akayla Hackson (173, college: CSUSM) answered with 18 points for Valkyrie. Riptide will play against Royals in Berkeley in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Valkyrie will play against Phoenix to get more than just one victory in their record.
Very important is a road loss of Reign against Swish on Saturday night. Visiting Reign was crushed by Swish in Oakland 81-56. Raquel Avila stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winners. At the losing side Raziya Potter responded with 21 points and 6 rebounds. Swish will meet Wolves in the next round. Reign will play against Blaze and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 1 Royals lost to Wolves in Alameda 55-79.

Four Swish players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Raziya Potter (178, college: UAPB) responded with 21 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Denean Jackson (175) scored 8 points and 10 rebounds. Swish will meet Wolves in the next round. Reign will play against Blaze and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Wolves used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Berkeley 79-55 on Saturday night. Wolves forced 20 Royals turnovers. Guard Rebecca Harris (173-1986, college: Illinois, agency: LBM Management) stepped up and scored 28 points and 5 steals for the winners and guard Jasmine Guinn (168-1995) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side American-Cambodian Mariah Cooks (185-1994, college: WSU) responded with 22 points and 9 rebounds and guard Nicolette Conkin (163) scored 8 points and 5 rebounds. Wolves will meet at home Swish in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Royals will play against Riptide and hope to win that game.

Guard Kayla Moutry (175-1999, college: Tulsa) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Riptide players scored in double figures. Guard Akayla Hackson (173, college: CSUSM) answered with 18 points and guard Jordan Cruz (180, college: Pacific) added 12 points in the effort for Valkyrie. Riptide will play against Royals in Berkeley in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Valkyrie will play against Phoenix to get more than just one victory in their record.
