POSTED BY: Eurobasket News
It was the Lightning's third game in four nights as they hosted the Flint United in a Sunday matinee matchup. Coming of their first two losses of the season, London bounced back in a big way with a dominant performance, winning the game 113-83. London jumped out to an early lead on the undermanned United team, who was without their head coach and featured a number of last minute additions to the roster, and take a 10 points lead after the first quarter. Flint would show some fight to start the second quarter, cutting the Lightning league to just two points before London's depth and experience proved to be too much. The second half was played almost exclusively by the bench, with four of the five Bolts playing 30 or more minutes and all five scoring in double-digits. London would outscore the United in all four quarters, leading to their largest win of the season. Rookie Josiah Mastandrea (6'1''-G, college: Simon Fraser) was named Player of the Game after leading the team with 21 points off the bench while hitting a game-high 6 three pointers. Jordan Jensen-Whyte (6'5''-G-1994, college: UBC) did it all for the Lightning, recording 18 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks while Terry Thomas (6'4''-SG-1991, college: Ottawa) got the start and scored 15 points. Three bench players also posted double-doubles on the afternoon with Cameron Forte (6'7''-F-1993, college: Portland St.) posting 14 points and 11 rebounds, Abednego Lufile (6'7''-F-1994, college: Arkansas Tech) added 10 points and a game-high 13 rebounds while newcomer Marcus Ottey (6'2''-G-1997, college: UIC) had 11 points and 10 assists in just his second game for the Bolts. Five of Flint's 7 available players scored in double digits led by Carlton Brundidge (6'3''-G-1992, college: Detroit)'s 16 points. Jahlil Rawley (6'3''-SG-1997, college: Stetson, agency: Green Sports Management) (14 points), Tyrone Hamby (13 points), Keyon Rainey (6'0''-PG, college: Olivet) (12 points), and Antonio Davis (11 points) rounded out the scoring for Flint. London is back at the Budweiser Gardens Wednesday, April 6th against the visiting KW Titans at 7:00pm. |
