In a thrilling culmination to the RSEQ basketball season, Vanier College emerged victorious, securing the championship title with a resounding 83-62 win over Dawson College in the final showdown. The championship game, held amidst electrifying energy, showcased Vanier's dominance on the court, led by star players Raphael Dumont (6'3''-G) and Yanis Malanda (6'4''-SG), who delivered standout performances, propelling their team to a decisive victory over Dawson. However, the excitement didn't end there, as earlier in the day, Jean-de-Brebeuf College narrowly clinched the bronze medal in a fiercely contested battle against Montmorency College, with a final score of 92-87. The game witnessed an intense back-and-forth between the two teams, ultimately culminating in Jean-de-Brebeuf's triumphant finish. Reflecting on the season's outstanding performances, Christian Payawal (6'1''-G) of Dawson College was awarded the prestigious Player of the Year title, acknowledging his exceptional contributions to his team's success throughout the season. The First Team honors were also announced, celebrating the league's top performers. Joining Christian Payawal in this esteemed lineup were Edouard Benoit (F) of Jean-de-Brebeuf, Raphael Dumont and Yanis Malanda of Vanier College, and Omar Migues-Hibeljic of Jean-de-Brebeuf, all of whom showcased remarkable skill and talent on the court. The RSEQ semifinals and quarterfinals showcased the league's intense competition, with memorable matchups including Dawson's victory over Montmorency and Vanier's triumph over Jean-de-Brebeuf in the semifinals, as well as Vanier's commanding win over Outaouais and Jean-de-Brebeuf's impressive performance against John Abbott in the quarterfinals.
