The Atlanta Aliens (1-1) officially tipped off their 2019-2020 season with a victory over Georgia Thunder 179-109. The Aliens motto this season is "Respect All, Fear None!" The Atlanta Aliens feels as if they have "Unfinished Business" after falling short last season during the Southeast Regional Championship Game which would have allowed them to the Elite-8 and a chance to compete for the ABA Championship in St. Louis.
Immediately, the Atlanta Aliens displayed their swarming defense forcing several turnovers for easy baskets. All of the Aliens players scored with seven of them in double figures. However, it was the Team Captain and Floor General Michael Stanley (6'2''-G, college: Emmanuel, GA) who was the team leader. Stanley finished the night with 65 points, Sherrard Brantley (6'2''-G-90, college: Georgia) followed with 30 points (all 3's), Rod Rucker (6'5''-F-91, college: UAB) 17 points, Thomas Brown (6'8''-F-86, college: Lamar) 15 points, Evan Jester (6'7''-F-99, college: Georgia Tech) and Alex Bonner (6'3''-G, college: LaGrange) both had 12 points.
In their second game of the weekend, the Atlanta Aliens traveled to Montgomery, Alabama and lost a heart breaker to River Region Generals 114-111. Again, Michael Stanley lead the team with 45 points, Sherrard Brantley 25 points, Rod Rucker 20 points and 12 rebounds, Alex Bonner 13 points, and Evan Jester 10 points.
The Aliens will play an Exhibition Game next against Toccoa Falls College before heading back on the road to play North Alabama War Dogs in Huntsville, Alabama on Saturday, November 23, 2019
