Regular Season Round 9: Niagara - Montreal 97-95

The most exciting game of round 9 in the CEBL took place in Niagara. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Alliance (3-8) to first ranked River Lions (6-3) 97-95 on Friday evening. Niagara made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Forward Nathan Cayo (201-1997, college: Richmond) stepped up and scored 21 points for the winners and guard Jahvon Henry-Blair (193-1998, college: Georgetown) chipped in 21 points. Four River Lions players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American Chris Smith (206-1999, college: UCLA) with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import Ahmed Hill (196-1995, college: Virginia Tech) scored 23 points. Alliance's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Niagara maintains first place with 6-3 record. Montreal lost third consecutive game. They keep the third position with eight games lost. They share it with Brampton. Niagara are looking forward to face Saskatchewan (#4) in Saskatoon in the next round. Montreal will play at home against Brampton and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
