Regular Season Round 8: Brampton - Montreal 85-79

Date: June 19, 2024
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fourth ranked Honey Badgers (3-8) beat one of their biggest challengers Alliance (3-7) in Hamilton 85-79 on Wednesday. Brampton made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The winners were led by American forward Zane Waterman (203-1995, college: Manhattan) who scored that evening 28 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Shamiel Stevenson (198-1998, college: Nebraska) supported him with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Honey Badgers' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 24 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists by American Chris Smith (206-1999, college: UCLA) did not help to save the game for Montreal. His fellow American import guard Jordan Bowden (197-1997, college: Tennessee) added 16 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Four Montreal players scored in double figures. Brampton maintains fourth position with 3-8 record. Loser Alliance keeps the third place with seven games lost. Brampton will meet league's second-placed Scarborough in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Montreal will play against the league's second-placed Scarborough in Toronto and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
