Regular Season Round 19: Ottawa - Vancouver 89-90

The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Blackjacks (12-8) in Ottawa on Thursday night. Hosts were edged by tenth ranked Bandits (7-12) 90-89. Bandits dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Blackjacks' 38. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Nick Ward (203-1997, college: Michigan St.) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 7 rebounds. Austrian-Georgian forward Giorgi Bezhanishvili (206-1998, college: Illinois) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Bandits players scored in double figures. Sudanese-Australian forward Deng Adel (201-1997, college: Louisville) answered with 28 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) and British-Canadian Thomas Scrubb (199-1991, college: Carleton, agency: Octagon Europe) added 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Blackjacks. Bandits moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Montreal. Blackjacks lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the second position with eight games lost. Bandits is looking forward to face higher ranked Shooting Stars (#5) in Toronto in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Blackjacks will have a break next round.
