Regular Season Round 19: Calgary - Edmonton 85-67

The game between fifth ranked Surge (11-8) and 6th ranked Stingers (8-11) in Calgary on Wednesday ended with biggest points difference. Surge beat guests from Edmonton 85-67. Surge made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Stingers turnovers and had a 29-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. Surge looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a quality performance for guard Sean Miller-Moore (193-1998, college: GCU) who led the winners and scored 18 points and 4 assists. Power forward Simi Shittu (208-1999, college: Vanderbilt) accounted for 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Brody Clarke (203-1996, college: Alberta) came up with 17 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and American forward Nick Hornsby (201-1995, college: Sacramento St.) added 10 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Stingers in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Stingers' coach tested ten players seeing no chance for a win. Surge have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place. Loser Stingers dropped to the seventh position with 11 games lost. They share it with Saskatchewan. Surge will meet Rattlers (#8) in the next round. Stingers will play against the league's leader Sea Bears in Winnipeg and hope to secure a win.
