Top ranked Blackjacks (12-7) recorded its seventh loss in Niagara on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by third ranked River Lions (11-7) 97-82. River Lions looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Khalil Ahmad (191-1996, college: CS Fullerton) who scored 29 points and 6 assists. Center Eddie Ekiyor (206-1997, college: Carleton) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four River Lions players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Jamaican-Canadian guard Kadre Gray (186-1997, college: Laurentian) who recorded 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and Jackson Rowe (201-1997, college: CS Fullerton) added 19 points and 7 rebounds respectively. River Lions maintains third position with 11-7 record behind leader Ottawa. Blackjacks at the other side still keep top place with seven games lost. They share the position with Winnipeg. River Lions will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Blackjacks will play at home against Bandits and are hoping to win this game.
