Regular Season Round 12: Winnipeg - Niagara 93-90

The most exciting game of round 12 in the CEBL took place in Winnipeg. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked River Lions (5-6) to first ranked Sea Bears (8-3) 93-90 on Thursday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Sea Bears forced 19 River Lions turnovers and had a 21-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Teddy Allen (198-1998, college: NM State) who scored 28 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Nigerian-American swingman EJ Anosike (201-1998, college: CS Fullerton) chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Khalil Ahmad (191-1996, college: CS Fullerton) who recorded 24 points and guard Jahvon Henry-Blair (193-1998, college: Georgetown) added 15 points respectively. Four River Lions players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Sea Bears have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-3 record. River Lions at the other side dropped to the fifth place with six games lost. They share the position with Edmonton and Brampton. Sea Bears are looking forward to face Alliance (#8) in Montreal in the next round and are hoping to win another game. River Lions will play on the road against Rattlers in Saskatoon and are hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
