Regular Season Round 10: Niagara - Calgary 99-86

An interesting game for River Lions (5-5) which hosted in Niagara their biggest opponent Surge (7-5). Third ranked River Lions managed to get a 13-point victory 99-86. River Lions forced 23 Surge turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. American guard Khalil Ahmad (191-1996, college: CS Fullerton) scored 30 points, 5 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward EJ Onu (211-1999, college: Shawnee St.) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four River Lions players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Sean Miller-Moore (193-1998, college: GCU) responded with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Stefan Smith (188-1999, college: St.John's, agency: Players Group) scored 19 points and 4 assists. River Lions have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 5-5 record having just two points less than leader Winnipeg, which they share with 4 other teams. Surge at the other side keeps the second place with five games lost. River Lions will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Surge will play on the road against Bandits in Langley and hopes to get back on the winning track.
