Regular Season Round 6: Montreal - Scarborough 72-104
Date: June 11, 2023
Bottom-ranked Shooting Stars managed to get a second victory, breaking the four-game losing streak. This time they outleveled eighth-ranked Alliance in Montreal 104-72. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 32-point difference suggests that Shooting Stars is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. They shot the lights out from three nailing 15 long-distance shots on high 51.7 percentage. Shooting Stars players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Alliance's players. The game was dominated by American players. It was a good game for point guard Anthony Barber (188-1994, college: NC State) who led his team to a victory with 25 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Swingman Kameron Chatman (203-1996, college: Detroit) contributed with 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Guard Treveon Graham (198-1993, college: VCU) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds and point guard Blake Francis (183-1998, college: Richmond) added 23 points (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) in the effort for Alliance. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shooting Stars (2-4) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Vancouver. Alliance lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with five games lost. Shooting Stars will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Alliance will play on the road against the league's leader Surge (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
