Regular Season Round 5: Niagara - Vancouver 78-87

Bottom-ranked Bandits managed to get a second victory, breaking the series of two consecutive losses on Saturday night. This time they won against seventh-ranked River Lions in Niagara 87-78. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of River Lions. They outrebounded River Lions 47-30 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Bandits looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Nick Ward (203-1997, college: Michigan St.) who scored 25 points and 9 rebounds. Austrian-Georgian forward Giorgi Bezhanishvili (206-1998, college: Illinois) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. Four Bandits players scored in double figures. American guard Khalil Ahmad (191-1996, college: CS Fullerton) produced 12 points and 8 assists and center Eddie Ekiyor (206-1997, college: Carleton) added 15 points respectively for the hosts. River Lions' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Bandits (2-4) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Niagara. Bandits will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. River Lions will play against Alliance (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
