Regular Season Round 15: Edmonton - Fraser Valley 88-87

Fourth-ranked Fraser Valley (5-7) made lots of trouble for first ranked Edmonton (13-1) on Friday. Edmonton managed to secure only one-point victory 88-87. However their fans expected easier game. Edmonton made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 25 Fraser Valley turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Fraser Valley helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Marlon Johnson (208-94, college: NMHU) who scored 23 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Guard Xavier Moon (188-95, college: Morehead St.) chipped in 26 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Kenny Manigault (195-91, college: Pikeville) who recorded 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and center Brandon Gilbeck (213-96, college: W.Illinois) added 18 points and 15 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Edmonton have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 13-1 record. Fraser Valley lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with seven games lost. Edmonton will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Fraser Valley will play on the road against Saskatchewan (#7) in Saskatoon and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
