Regular Season Round 13: Niagara - Guelph 81-92

The game between third ranked Niagara (7-5) and sixth ranked Guelph (3-9) was the most important one in the last round on Friday night. Niagara was defeated by Guelph in Niagara 81-92. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Niagara. Guelph dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Niagara's 38. They outrebounded Niagara 45-28 including a 34-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guelph looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Anthony Barber (188-94, college: NC State) who helped to win the game recording 20 points. His fellow American import guard Michael Bryson (193-94, college: UCSB) contributed with 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Guelph's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. British-Canadian guard Philip Scrubb (191-92, college: Carleton) answered with 20 points and British-Canadian Thomas Scrubb (199-91, college: Carleton) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Niagara. Four Niagara players scored in double figures. Guelph maintains sixth place with 3-9 record. Niagara at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. Guelph are looking forward to face higher ranked Ottawa (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Niagara will play against the league's second-placed Hamilton and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
