Regular Season Round 9: Saskatchewan - Guelph 74-90

The game between closely ranked teams ended with bottom-ranked Saskatchewan's (0-8) home loss to sixth ranked Guelph (2-5) 74-90 on Friday. Guelph had a 36-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Ahmed Hill (196-95, college: Virginia Tech) stepped up and scored 13 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and his fellow American import power forward Chad Brown (207-96, college: UCF) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Brown is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was guard Devonte Bandoo (190-0, college: Baylor) with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists and Mali-Canadian guard Mambi Diawara (198-94, college: Calgary) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Five Guelph and four Saskatchewan players scored in double figures. Saskatchewan's coach tested ten players seeing no chance for a win. Guelph maintains sixth place with 2-5 record. Saskatchewan lost their eighth game in a row. Defending champion still closes the standings with eight games lost. Guelph will meet at home league's leader Edmonton in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Saskatchewan will play against Niagara (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
