Regular Season Round 8: Saskatchewan - Edmonton 70-87
Date: July 12, 2021
Bottom-ranked Saskatchewan (0-7) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their seventh consecutive match to top-ranked Edmonton (6-0) 87-70. The winners were led by swingman Jordan Baker (201-91, college: Alberta) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 25 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Xavier Moon (188-95, college: Morehead St.) supported him with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Edmonton's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds by guard Devonte Bandoo (190-0, college: Baylor) did not help to save the game for Saskatchewan. American forward Travis Daniels (202-92, college: MSU) added 15 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Five Edmonton and four Saskatchewan players scored in double figures. Edmonton have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader. Defending champion Saskatchewan still closes the standings with seven games lost. Edmonton will play against Ottawa (#4) on the road in the next round. Saskatchewan will play against Guelph and hopes to get finally their first victory.
