The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Titans (15-7) in Kitchener on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked Jackals (3-18) 111-101. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Titans. Lake Erie dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Titans' 40 and made 30-of-38 free shots (78.9 percent) during the game. 28 personal fouls committed by KW Titans helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for Dane Miller (203-1990, college: Rutgers) who led his team to a victory with 27 points and 5 rebounds. Swingman Joshua Dominguez (193-1995, college: Wingate) contributed with 20 points and 12 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners. Guard Antoine Mason (191-1992, college: Auburn, agency: Interperformances) replied with 40 points (!!!) for KW Titans. Titans' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Lake Erie maintains fifth position with 3-18 record. KW Titans at the other side still keep top place with seven games lost. Lake Erie are looking forward to face higher ranked Montreal T. (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. KW Titans will play against the league's second-placed Sudbury F. in Sudbury and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Toundra (13-8) against fourth ranked Windsor Express (11-10) on Friday night. Visiting Toundra was defeated by Windsor Express in Windsor 108-94. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Dwight Burton (185-1997, college: Madonna) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and Billy White who added 22 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Shakur Daniel (198-1999, college: Tarleton St.) with 25 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Windsor Exp. maintains fourth position with 11-10 record. Montreal T. at the other side keeps the third place with eight games lost. Windsor Exp. will play against Lake Erie (#5) in Jamestown in the next round.
