The game had a very big importance for second-rankedFive as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Five edged 6th ranked Rogues in Sudbury 123-122 . Sudbury F. made 32-of-41 free shots (78.0 percent) during the game, while Newfoundland R. only scored thirteen points from the stripe. They outrebounded Newfoundland R. 50-33 including 16 on the offensive glass. 27 personal fouls committed by Newfoundland R. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American forward JD Miller (203-1996, college: TCU) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import guard Charlie Marquardt (193-1995, college: Molloy) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Marquardt is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Dedric De Boyd (195-1998, college: Tennessee St.) who recorded 32 points and 4 assists and guard Graddy Kanku (194-1999) added 21 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Four Sudbury F. and five Newfoundland R. players scored in double figures. Five have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Newfoundland R. at the other side keeps the sixth place with eight games lost.
