Breakers Win Championship
As it was easy to expect, the Santa Babraba Breakers (the only true professional team in the WCPBL) prevailed over the Ventura Jets in the Semifinal and then defeated the High Desert Rattlers, 122-103 in the West Coast Pro Basketball League championship game at the SBCC Sports Pavilion. The best performers in the Final game were Josh Merrill (6'9''-F-74, college: UCSB), who ended the game with 23 pts and 9 rebs, Tim Taylor (6'3''-G-82, college: Wayne St., NE), who added 21 points, and Allan Purnell (6'4''-G-82, college: Pacific), who scored 18 pts. The best in Rattlers was Mike Garrett (6'3''-G-77, college: San Jose St.), who scored 25 points in losing effort. The final record of the Breakers in the West Coast Pro Basketballl League is 18-0, but most of the times the opponents were not so much of 'weekend teams'. Also, we would suggest to remove that word 'Pro' from the league name: during the three months of competition, no official rosters have been released, nor game results, nor boxscores. The 'official' WCBPL website is exactly at the same stage of its start, and only the Breakers released an official website, with some updatings. Would you call this a professional league ?
