For the second consecutive game the UNB REDS men's basketball needed overtime, and for the second consecutive game the REDS beat the Saint Mary's Huskies. Marcus Barnes (6'3''-G) scored 26 points to lead UNB in Saturday afternoon's 87-83 Atlantic University Sport victory. With about 90-seconds left in regulation, Barnes scored seven straight points to erase a three-point deficit and create a four-point 74-70, UNB lead. The Huskies would tie the game 75-75 on a basket with 5.1 seconds left on the clock to force the overtime. With less than 30 seconds remaining in the extra time, Barnes connected on a basket from well beyond the three-point line to give UNB an 86-83 lead. They'd add a late free throw to make the final 87-83. Barnes finished the game with seven rebounds and five assists to go along with his 26 points. Eden Otshudi scored 19 points, grabbed six rebounds, and dealt three assists, and Brandon Laryea (6'6''-F) added 16 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Conner Landell (6'9''-F-2003, college: FHSU) was a defensive force, grabbing a game-high 18 rebounds and scoring a dozen points. Mark Tobin (6'5''-F) also scored a dozen for the REDS. Jayrell Diggs (6'0''-G) scored a game-high 30 points in the Huskies' loss while Jasha'Jaun Downey (6'3''-G) dropped 22. With the win, the REDS improve to 13-6 and are currently in second place in the AUS standings, four points back of league-leading STFX and four points up on third place Acadia. At 4-14, the Huskies are in last place. The REDS now return home to host the X-Men, Saturday, in the regular season finale for both teams. The battle of conference leaders is scheduled for an 8:00pm start.
