Pirates Win 2024 NWC Tournament-Feb 26, 2024
The number one seeded Whitworth Pirates finished on top at the 2024 Northwest Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament, defeating the Whitman Blues 81-75. The Pirates and Blues played an exciting game up until the final seconds- with the Pirates leading by a thin margin throughout the second half.
The win marks the third consecutive NWC title for the Pirates and the seventh consecutive year the Pirates and Blues have faced off for the conference crown.
Jake Holtz (6'4''-G/F) played a major role in the success of the Pirates, earning 32 points and 10 rebounds. Sullivan Menard (6'3''-G) added 21 points of his own while Garrett Long (6'1''-G) earned 12 points.
The Blues were led by Jai Deshpande (6'5''-G) who scored a team-high 17 points and Jander Cline (6'5''-F) with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
