The top-seeded UMass Dartmouth men's basketball team secured it's league-record 12th Little East Conference (LEC) Men's Basketball Championship Tournament title with a 108-68 victory over second-seeded Keene State College Thursday night at the Tripp Center. It's the Corsairs first LEC tournament title win since 2009.MOST OUTSTANDING: UMass Dartmouth junior guard Marcus Azor (6'0''-PG) was named the LEC Championship Tournament Most Outstanding Player. He scored 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the floor with seven boards, seven assists, two blocks and two steals in just 21 minutes in the championship win over the Owls after pouring in 29 points on 11-of-19 shooting from the field with nine rebounds, three assists and three steals in a 93-89 semifinal win over fourth-seeded Rhode Island College. He is just the second Corsair to win the award since it was first introduced in 2003, the first was then sophomore guard Jeff Macchi (6'1''-G) in 2009. LEC HISTORY: Tonight's 40-point margin of victory by UMass Dartmouth is a LEC record, surpassing the previous mark of 32 points in WestConn's 92-60 win over Plymouth State in the 1999 tournament final. Tonight marked just the third occasion in LEC history that a conference final saw 100 points scored - The Corsairs first did so with a 101-80 win over Western Connecticut in 1995 and the second was the 2005 final that saw WestConn defeat Plymouth State 135-130 in double-overtime. UMASS DARTMOUTH (8-2) LEADERS: Senior guard Jarron Stanos scored a season-high 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the floor and 5-of-6 shooting from three to go with and five assists to lead four Corsairs in double figures. Junior guard Adam Seablom (6'1''-G) contributed 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting with a pair of threes, while freshman guard Isaac Percy (6'2''-G) added 11 points with five boards. Each member of the program entered the scoring column in UMass Dartmouth's triumph. KEENE STATE (6-3) LEADERS: Senior guard Devon Beasley (6'0''-PG) scored 13 points and dished out three assists to lead Keene State, while senior forward Justin Williams (6'6''-F) and sophomore forward Jeff Hunter each registered 10 points. Senior forward James Anozie (6'6''-C) collected a team-best seven rebounds to go with six points. INSIDE THE NUMBERS: UMass Dartmouth shot a season-high 57.7 percent (45-of-78) from the floor, including a season-best 46.9 percent (15-of-32) from beyond the arc. Keene State was held to 33.3 percent (24-of-72) from the field and 18.5 percent (5-of-27) from long distance. The Corsairs outscored the Owls 58-34 in the paint.
