Medaille College earned their fifth AMCC men's basketball championship today, defeating La Roche College, 74-58, to advance to the NCAA Division III tournament. The top seeded Mavericks led almost the entire game. They built a 15 point first half lead and were ahead by as many as 21 points in the second half The #3 seeded Redhawks did much better in the last 20 minutes, scoring 35 points to Medaille's 36, but could not overcome an 8-of-30 field goal effort. Medaille was paced by a 14 point, 12 rebound effort from Mike Hollenbeck (6'7''-F-96) and another 24 points from Meghale Ford. Both were named to the all-tournament team. Also impacting the boxscore were Johnathan Belton (6'0''-PG-95) (10 points, 5 assists, 4 steals) and Justice Fagan (6'1''-G-95) (10 points, 3 assists). La Roche got a double-double contribution from Andy Abreu (6'5''-F) (12 points, 13 boards), while Zach Gould (5'10''-PG), Ray Quan Phifer (6'1''-G) and Trell Thomas (5'10''-PG) all chipped in 13 points.
