We bring you last week's top former Roadrunners players who are currently playing in pro basketball.
#1. Christyon Eugene, a 6'3'' guard who is 25 years old and graduated from Troy in 2024, previously played at Angelina JC between 2019 and 2020. During his time at Angelina JC, he helped the team secure the NJCAA D1 Mid-South District Champion title in that year. Currently playing professionally in Serbia, he is a part of KK FMP SoccerBet Beograd.
In a recent game against the 17th-ranked Partizan, KK FMP SoccerBet Beograd emerged victorious with a score of 92-79 in a high-stakes derby match in the Serbian Meridianbet Kosarkaska lige Srbije. Despite only scoring 3 points in 19 minutes of play, Eugene made a significant impact on the game. His contribution of 3 points and 3 rebounds against Partizan was crucial in helping his team secure the win.
Eugene's performance on the court demonstrated his skill and value to the team, highlighting his importance as a key player. Even though KK FMP SoccerBet Beograd is currently placed second from the bottom (#21) in the Joined in Play-Off group, Eugene's efforts have not gone unnoticed.
Throughout this season, Eugene has been averaging 5.0 points per game, along with 1.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals in the three games he has played so far. His consistent contributions and solid gameplay have been instrumental in the team's performance, showcasing his abilities as a valuable asset to KK FMP SoccerBet Beograd.
#2. Tayvion Johnson, a 6'7'' forward who is 26 years old, is a Mustangs alumnus from 2023. He also played for Angelina JC between 2019 and 2020, where he helped his team win the NJCAA D1 Mid-South District Champion title that year. Currently playing professionally in the TBL, Johnson recently led the Willamette Valley Jaguars to a resounding victory over the Tri-Cities Sun Devils with a score of 113-98 in a recent The Basketball League match.
In this game, Johnson was named the MVP for his exceptional performance. He achieved a double-double by scoring 26 points and securing 13 rebounds, as well as contributing 2 blocks in 41 minutes of play. This remarkable display is particularly impressive considering he is only in his third season of professional basketball. Despite the team's relatively weak 3-14 record this season, Johnson's stellar performance against the Tri-Cities Sun Devils helped the Willamette Valley Jaguars secure their first win after enduring ten consecutive losses.
As the regular season in The Basketball League nears its end, the upcoming game will be crucial for Johnson and his team. This season marks Johnson's first year with the Willamette Valley Jaguars, where he has been showcasing his skills as a true champion on the court. With notable statistics of 12.1 points per game, 5.9 rebounds per game, 1.5 assists per game, and 1.3 blocks per game in 17 matches, Johnson continues to prove himself as a standout player in the league. His outstanding performance against the Tri-Cities Sun Devils even earned him the prestigious Triple-Double Badge from eurobasket.com, further solidifying his reputation as a top-tier player.
