Here is the weekly review of the top performing Dolphins alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.
#1. Brandon Johnson (6'8''-F-2002, played in 2020-21, plays pro in Hungary) could not help ZTE KK (1-5) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the bottom-ranked ZTE KK lost 83-90 at home to the higher-ranked (#8) Kaposvari.
Johnson had a double-double by scoring 25 points and getting 10 rebounds in 26 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his first season in pro basketball. It was ZTE KK's fourth consecutive loss in a row.
But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen.
It's Johnson's first year with the team.
Johnson has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages 19.8ppg, 7.3rpg, 1.7apg and 1.5spg in six games he played so far.
#2. Adrian Scarborough (6'6''-F-2000, played in 2018-20, plays in United Kingdom) was the major contributor in a Worthing Thunder's victory against the fourth-ranked Essex R. II (1-3) 92-79 in the British BCB (second division) last Saturday.
Scarborough recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 11 rebounds; not bad, considering it's only his third season in pro basketball. Worthing Thunder (4-0) is placed first in Group 1.
So far his team won all four games in the Regular Season.
But the season just started, so everything may happen.
It's Scarborough's first year with the team.
This season Scarborough has very high stats. He averages 17.7ppg, 11.7rpg, 1.3apg and 2.7spg.
Worth to mention he played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.
#3. Christian Koonce (6'5''-G-2000, played in 2020-21, currently in Azerbaijan), who plays in the Azerbaijani ABL was not able to help Guba (2-3) in their last game. Despite Koonce's good performance the fourth-placed Guba (2-3) lost 78-86 on the road to the second-ranked Nakhchivan in the Grupa B group.
He scored 10 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 30 minutes.
Koonce's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical.
Koonce has very impressive stats this year 20.0ppg, 3.5rpg, 2.3apg and 1.3spg in four games.
#4. Eric Freeman (6'7''-F-1997, played in 2015-16, plays pro in Thailand) led Shoot it Dragons to an easy victory against the eighth-ranked Comets (3-5) 81-66 in the Thailand TGBL (third division) in Sunday night's game.
Freeman recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 14 rebounds. He also added 3 assists, 2 blocks and 3 steals.
Shoot it Dragons (12-2) are placed second in Water Division.
It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row.
It's Freeman's first season with the team.
