EuroBasket Pro Cougars Weekly Update

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Cougars alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.



   #1. Experienced Nyika Williams (6'8''-C/F-1987, played in 2007-08, plays pro in Japan) could not help Toyama Grouses (3-7) in their last game. Despite his good performance the 12th-placed Toyama Grouses (3-7) were badly defeated91-71 on the road by the leading Velca in the West group. Williams was the second best scorer with 12 points. He also added 6 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 20 minutes. It was Toyama Grouses' fourth consecutive loss in a row. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. It's Williams' first year with the team. This season Williams averages 7.0ppg and 5.7rpg in 10 games he played so far.

   #2. Hannes Saar (6'6''-G-2001, played in 2021-23, plays in Estonia) contributed to Tartu's victory against the ninth-ranked TalTech (2-3) 84-77 in the Lat-Est BL last Saturday. He recorded 7 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Tartu Ulikool Maks & Moorits (7-0) is placed first in the Lat-Est BL. So far his team won all seven games in the Regular Season. But the season just started, so everything may happen. It's Saar's first year with the team. This season Saar averages 6.6ppg, 2.9rpg, 2.1apg and 1.3spg.

   #3. John Williams (6'4''-SG-1999, played in 2018-20, currently in Germany) contributed to a Bayer Giants Leverkusen's victory against the 16th-ranked Kirchheim Knights (1-4) 93-87 in the German ProA (second division) on Sunday night. He scored 9 points in 26 minutes. Bayer Giants Leverkusen (2-1) is placed third in the ProA. But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen. Williams has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 15.5ppg, 3.5rpg and 1.5apg in four games.

   #4. Eric Bras Amandio (6'3''-G-1998, played in 2018-19, plays pro in Spain) led Santander to a victory over the ninth-ranked Indautxu (2-3) 84-71 in the Spanish Tercera FEB (fourth division) in Saturday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Amandio scored 28 points (!!!), grabbed 8 boards, passed 3 assists and added 3 steals. CDE Becedo Santander (3-2) is placed seventh in Group A-A. But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen. This season Amandio has very high stats. He averages 22.0ppg, 7.2rpg, 6.8apg and 3.4spg.

Dequandre Dentmond (6'8''-F-1995, played in 2015-16) plays for Warriors in Thailand BTL
Justin Harmon (6'4''-G-2001, played in 2019-21) plays for The Shine in the The Basketball Tournament
Jahlil Rawley (6'4''-PG-1997, played in 2016-17) plays for Winston-Salem Wolves in the ECBL
