EuroBasket Pro Chaparrals Weekly Update

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Chaparrals alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.

   #1. Experienced Nathan Jawai (6'10''-F/C-86, graduated '07, plays pro in France) could not help Levallois (11-12) in their last game. Despite his good performance Levallois lost 85-96 at home to the higher-ranked (#7) JL Bourg. Jawai was the second best scorer with 12 points in a mere 18 minutes. This year Jawai averages 7.0ppg in three games he played so far.

   #2. Demetric Austin (6'7''-F, played in 2013-14, plays in Greece) was not able to help Panionios in their game against Olympiacos (18-2) in the Greek A1. Despite his very good performance on Sunday night He was the top scorer with 13 points. Austin also added 6 rebounds. It's Austin's first season with the team. This year he averages 9.4ppg and 4.5rpg.

   #3. Jonathon Simmons (6'6''-G-89, played in 2009-10, currently in the NBA) was not able to secure a victory for the Philadelphia 76ers (47-27) in their game against the Orlando Magic (36-38) in the NBA. Simmons scored 8 points in only 13 minutes. The Philadelphia 76ers (47-27) were crushed 119-98 on their home court in Philadelphia by the Magic. This year Simmons averages 4.1ppg, 1.4rpg and 1.4apg in 12 games.

   #4. Arturas Valeika (6'9''-F-85, played in 2004-06, plays pro in Romania) led Oradea to a 2-point victory against the leader Sibiu (16-5) 72-70 in the Romanian Liga Nationala in Saturday night's game. He scored 11 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in Group Red. CSM CSU Oradea (11-11) is placed third. There are only two games left until the end of the Second Stage. So now every game will be critical. This season Valeika averages 7.4ppg, 5.9rpg and 1.7apg.

   #5. Dwayne Davis (6'5''-F-89, played in 2010-11, plays in Uruguay) couldn't help Aguada (3-9) in their game against Defensor (1-4) in the Uruguayan LUB. He recorded 5 points in 15 minutes. The first-placed Aguada (3-9) lost 74-86 in a derby game to the lower-ranked (#6) Defensor in the Places 1-6 group. Davis has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 17.2ppg, 4.4rpg, 3.3apg and 1.1spg in 28 games.

   #6. Darrell Williams (6'8''-F/C-89, graduated '15, currently in France) couldn't help Le Portel in their game against Boulazac Basket in the French Jeep ELITE ProA. He scored 6 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. His team was edged 72-70. Williams has relatively good stats this season 12.8ppg, 6.0rpg, 1.6apg and 1.2spg.

   #7. Daeshon Francis (6'4''-G, played in 2015-16, plays pro in Luxembourg) was the major contributor in Larochette's victory against the second-ranked Residence 84-76 in the Luxembourg Total League in Saturday night's game. Francis had a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 5 assists in 39 minutes. Francis has very impressive stats this year 26.1ppg, 9.6rpg, 3.7apg and 1.8spg in 17 games.

   #8. Tiegbe Bamba (6'9''-F-91, graduated '15, plays in France) couldn't help Chartres Basket Masculins in their game against Aix-Maurienne in the French ProB (second division). Bamba scored 6 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 4 assists. His team was defeated 80-74. Bamba has relatively good stats this season 11.8ppg, 4.6rpg and 2.2apg. He has also French citizenship.

William Tchiengang (6'8''-F-95, played in 2014-16) played for Team Treviso in the Eurobasket S.League last year
