We bring you last week's top former Matadors players who are currently playing in pro basketball.
#1. Kenny Dawkins (5'9''-PG-87, graduated '09, plays pro in Brazil) led E.C. Pinheiros Sao Paolo to a victory over the league outsider Joinville (4-14) crushing them 92-70 in the Brazilian NBB in Wednesday night's game.
He was MVP of the game. Dawkins scored 18 points and added 5 assists in 26 minutes.
E.C. Pinheiros Sao Paolo (8-2) is placed first in the NBB.
It was his team's tenth consecutive victory in a row.
Dawkins has relatively good stats this year 11.0ppg, 3.0rpg, 3.1apg and 1.2spg in 20 games he played so far.
#2. Mehdi Cheriet (6'9''-PF-87, graduated '11, plays in France) was the main contributor in a SO Maritime Boulogne's victory against the seventh-ranked Feurs EF (11-14) crushing them 75-42 in the French NM1 (third division) last Saturday.
Cheriet was MVP of the game. He scored 18 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
SO Maritime Boulogne (16-8) is placed third in Group A.
It was his team's 11th consecutive victory in a row.
There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
This season Cheriet averages 9.2ppg, 3.4rpg and 1.3apg.
He has also French citizenship.
#3. Renan Lenz (6'9''-F-90, played in 2010-12, currently in Brazil) managed to help Paulistano/Unimed Sao Paolo in a 2-point victory against the closely-ranked Mogi (15-6) 91-89 in the Brazilian NBB on Friday night.
Lenz scored only 4 points in 10 minutes.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Paulistano/Unimed Sao Paolo (10-0) is placed first in the NBB.
So far his team won all ten games in the Regular Season.
This year Lenz averages 8.2ppg and 3.8rpg in 20 games.
#4. Yukijiro Yashiro (5'9''-PG-92, played in 2011-12, plays pro in Japan). He could not help Ehime Orange Vikings (17-24) to beat Shinshu BW (33-8) in the Japanese B2 League.
Yashiro scored 6 points.
The fourth-placed Ehime Orange Vikings (17-24) were badly defeated 93-74 on the road by the leading Shinshu BW in the West group.
This season Yashiro averages 1.9ppg and 1.2rpg.
#5. Daichi Taniguchi (6'7''-F/C-90, played in 2010-12, plays in Japan) was not able to help Akita Northern Happinets in their game against Aishin Sea Horses (22-18) in the Japanese B League. He did not have that impressive stats last Sunday.
Taniguchi recorded only 3 points in 12 minutes.
The fifth-placed Akita Northern Happinets (13-27) were crushed 85-58 in Kariya by the higher-ranked (#3) Aishin Sea Horses in the East group.
It was Akita Northern Happinets' sixth consecutive loss in a row.
It's Taniguchi's fourth season with the team.
This year he averages 2.9ppg and 1.4rpg in 38 games.
