Sullivan won NJCAA D3 Championship
Having a spotless record throughout the entire season, the Sullivan County Community College Generals (29-0) were able to hold on to remain undefeated Champions of the 2007 NJCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship Tournament against the Northland Community and Technical College Pioneers (27-4) winning 74-68 in regulation play. Winning this tournament for the fourth time in the college's history, they set a national record for junior college play.
Northland took the game early, not making victory easy for the Generals, as they held the lead through most of the first half. Setting a fast-paced game, both teams were able to move the ball quickly around the court, finding open plays and draining baskets. With just over 10 minutes left to play, Sullivan's Joshua Lott drained a three-point basket to tie the game up at 15-15. Both teams fought back and forth to lead the game, and after a three-point basket by Northland's Kyrk Freeman, the Pioneers took the lead, to hold in into halftime, 36-34.
Coming out into the second half, Northland still held the lead, but Sullivan slowly came back to dominate the court. Shutting down the Pioneer's offense, the Generals fought to make shots and get back on defense. Going back and forth for the lead, both teams fought to take a substantial lead, neither being able to do so. Finally, Sullivan's Joshua Lott pulled and sank a three-point shot with 37.8 seconds left to take their final lead, which they held onto until the end of the game, winning 74-68. High scorer for the game was Sullivan's Donte Harrison, followed by Tournament MVP Joshua Lott with 13 points. Northland Community and Technical College's lead scorer was Kyrk Freeman with 22 points followed by Tomas Loberg with 19 points.
