DePaul women's basketball announced the signing of freshman guard Charlece Ohiaeri on Wednesday afternoon. Ohiaeri has signed her national letter of intent (NLI) and will join the Blue Demons in Chicago this summer. A Las Vegas, Nevada native, Ohiaeri helped guide perennial-powerhouse Centennial High School to three-consecutive state championships including a 25-2 mark in her senior campaign while the Bulldogs finished the season ranked No. 20 nationally. The 6-1 forward earned All-Southern First Team honors in her senior season after averaging 10.1 points per game and providing great athleticism and versatility on the defensive end of the floor. Head coach Doug Bruno on Ohiaeri: "Charlece is a versatile, athletic stretch-four who competed for Karen Weitz, one of the nation's best coaches, at Centennial High School, which is one of the best basketball programs in the country each year. We expect Charlece to work and develop into an excellent college basketball player who will bolster our interior depth. She can run, rebound, finish at the rim and shoot the three. Her game and potential are made for our DePaulBall running style." Charlece on DePaul: "I chose DePaul because I know I will receive a great education as it is a great school. Additionally, I love Chicago and it is a great place to be. I also chose DePaul to be coached by such an elite level coaching staff. I am excited to meet new people and get to know my teammates and coaches. I cannot wait to travel with my team and be coached by a great staff." Ohiaeri joins fellow newcomers Grace Carstensen, Kate Clarke, Sumer Lee, Shakara McCline and Michelle Sidor who have all signed with the Blue Demons this spring. Season ticket deposits for the 2023-24 season at Wintrust Arena are now available. Visit DePaulBlueDemons.com/commit to claim your seat.
