The Illinois women's basketball team is on the board in the Class of 2024. Hayven Smith, a 6-foot-5 athletic post from Lincoln-Way East announced her commitment to Illinois via social media on Wednesday. Smith is the first commitment in the Class of 2024 and one of the handful of in-state targets that head coach Shauna Green and her coaching staff have zeroed in on over the course of the last calendar year. Smith chose Illinois over offers from Purdue, Harvard, North Dakota, Cleveland State, Butler and Rice, among others.
Smith averaged 14 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks for Lincoln Way-East this season and was an all-state selection last season. She will plays for Midwest Elite on the AAU circuit.
